Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has confirmed that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will be permitted to play against the Blues in the Champions League semi-final.

Courtois is currently on loan at Chelsea's Champions League opponents Atletico Madrid and there had been much talk that a clause had been inserted into his contract which would prevent him from facing the London side.

UEFA has since indicated that if so, the clause cannot be allowed to stand in the semi-final. But Chelsea chairman Buck has stressed Courtois can play.

Speaking to beIN Sports, he said: "Of course we'll let him play.

"Doing the opposite would be paranoid and creepy. We are above that", he added.

Courtois is a key man for Atletico Madrid and has appeared for Los Rojiblancos in the Champions League on nine occasions this season.

The Belgian's loan with Diego Simeone's men is due to expire at the end of the season, but the Spanish side remain keen to keep him.
