Despite being linked with AC Milan and Manchester United, Brazilian centre-back Alex is intending to remain at Paris Saint-Germain.

The former Chelsea defender's contract with the French champions expires this coming summer, something which had led to interest from Milan and Manchester United, who both smelt a potential free transfer bargain.

But Alex's preference is to remain with the Ligue 1 giants and he is angling to put pen to paper on a fresh deal.

"I am very happy in Paris and it is almost certain that I will sign a new contract", the centre-back told Globoesporte.

"I think I will extend my contract by one year within the next two weeks", he added.

The 31-year-old has been a fixture in the heart of defence for Laurent Blanc's men this season, making 27 appearances in Ligue 1.

He also turned out seven times in PSG's Champions League campaign.
