Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is not sure whether he can play Abou Diaby this season after he confirmed that the Frenchman has returned to training from his injury.

Diaby has been out of action due to injury since March last year after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Wenger confirmed that the former Auxerre man is back in training, but after more than a year out due to injury the Arsenal manager is unsure whether he can risk rushing Diaby back this season.

“Abou is back in full training on Thursday. It's very difficult to say [if he will play this season] because he has not played for over a year now, and it’s very difficult for me [to decide]”, the 64-year-old told the club’s official site.

The Gunners manager is happy with the physical condition that Diaby is in but believes that the Frenchman needs to play a few games before he can be involved with the first team again.

“He looks physically fine, but he has to play one or two games before I consider bringing him back.”

Arsenal signed Diaby from Auxerre in 2006 but the Frenchman’s time in England has been blighted with injuries which have only allowed him to make 123 league appearances for the Gunners in the last eight seasons.
