Aston Villa striker Nicklas Helenius would be interested in a return to former club AaB if he does not receive regular playing time at Villa Park.

The Danish striker moved to Aston Villa from AaB last summer, but has found cementing a spot in the club's first eleven to be a tough task.

Helenius had hoped a season-ending injury to Christian Benteke recently would give him his chance, however the 22-year-old has not been included in Aston Villa's last seven matchday squads.

And that places a question mark over Helenius' future.

"If, after the last few games in the Premier League, he is told that he must find something else, then a club like AaB would be very interesting for Nicklas", the striker's agent Mads Bach Lund explained to Danish daily BT.

Helenius has clocked up just six appearances for Aston Villa in all competitions this season, scoring just once, that goal coming in the FA Cup.

His contract with the English club runs until 2016.
