Arsene Wenger admits Arsenal have taken "encouragement" from Everton slipping up yesterday, but the Frenchman feels the emphasis is still on his side to get over the line in the battle to finish fourth in the Premier League.

Arsenal beat West Ham on Tuesday night to move above Everton into fourth and the Toffees could not respond last night, when they went down to a 3-2 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.

That has left the Gunners firmly in the driving seat to finish fourth, but Wenger does not want his side to believe the job is done.

"It is of course a big encouragement but there is a lot of work to do for us, and that's what we want to continue to do", he was quoted as saying by ITV.

"We have a big game at Hull, we just want to prepare as well as we can for it.

And he is determined that the Gunners will continue to battle hard throughout the remainder of the campaign.

"I think mentally we are in a better shape than a week ago, because we had two important wins, and that of course puts us in a better condition on the confidence front."

The Gunners are next in action on Sunday against Hull City, the same side they are due to play in the FA Cup final next month.
