Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke is delighted after his side made it to the final of the German Cup after beating Wolfsburg 2-0 at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday.

Robert Lewandowski and Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s strikes saw the Black and Yellows qualify for the final showdown in Berlin just days after they thrashed Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich 3-0 in their league game on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are sitting second in the German league, just three points ahead of third-placed Schalke, and with four games still to go in the season, Watzke is hoping the team are able to maintain their position until the end.

“This is a big thing for the entire club, the fans, for everyone. We have reached a final now for the third straight year, which clearly shows what a force we’ve become”, he told Dortmund’s site.

“There are just two more things we want to achieve: we want to secure second place in the Bundesliga, and of course we want to win the cup. We will give our all to achieve these goals, but the team has already done a fantastic job”, Watzke added.

Dortmund will host Mainz on Saturday, followed by fixtures with Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim and Hertha Berlin over the remaining weeks.
