Gareth Bale has expressed his delight at winning his first trophy with Real Madrid after his 85th minute strike against Barcelona last night won the Copa del Rey for Los Blancos at the Mestalla.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man accepts that the first title with his new club will always remain special but he doesn’t want to rest on his laurels and would like to help Los Blancos to win both La Liga and the Champions League to complete the treble.

“It's a dream come true, not just because I scored but because of the work of the whole team. It was really special”, the Welshman told the club’s official site.

“We've won the first of the three available titles and we have to keep fighting for everything. But now we have to be thinking about the next game and nothing else.”

Bale dedicated last night’s win to the Real Madrid fans and thanked them for their continued support and assured them that the team will keep fighting until the end of the season to win more trophies.

“This win is for all the fans and we hope that it will be the first of many to come. Thank you all for your support during the season. We have worked hard as a team.”

Bale joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 on a word record transfer fee of £85.3m and the Welshman signed a six-year contract with the Los Merengues.
