Raheem Sterling is the best young player in European football, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes.

Sterling scored twice for Liverpool during their 3-2 win away at Norwich City today, also providing an assist for Luis Suarez, who got on the scoresheet too.

The winger's first goal saw him cut inside and unleash an unstoppable shot from outside the penalty area, which bulged the net. And Sterling's third was a swirling run, which saw his shot get a deflection and loop over the Norwich goalkeeper.

Rodgers was delighted with the youngster's display, which saw Liverpool move five points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

"To beat a goalkeeper of John Ruddy's quality shows you the level of the strike", Rodgers said to Sky Sports of Sterling's first goal.

"His pass for Luis' goal was like a midfield player, a top, top midfielder and Luis guided it in really well, so there's an assist.

"And then his positioning for the counter-attack, when he broke away, and obviously got a little bit of luck on the deflection.

"His performances, he's showing so much maturity. For me he's the best young player in European football at this moment."
