Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has insisted his side will have to put their best foot forward if they hope to beat Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.

The German giants have already won the Bundesliga and will take the field on the back of a 2-0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday. They have won just three out of their last seven games, but will be hoping to take their winning form into the European tournament as they look to defend their title.

But the Spanish manager is wary of Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who beat rivals Barcelona 2-1 in the Copa del Rey final last week, and feels that the Spanish Cup win will be a huge confidence booster for the Whites.

“Obviously we have to raise our game. The momentum will be with Real after having won the final, but we will go to the Bernabeu looking to compete”, Guardiola was quoted as saying by Marca.

“Real Madrid have an advantage of sorts in that regard. We won the league a while ago and that's led us to take our feet off the pedal a bit, but we will try to recapture our best form as soon as possible”, he added.

Bayern Munich are also contending for the German Cup and will take on Borussia Dortmund in the final at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on 17th May in the hope of winning their second major trophy this year as they look to defend their treble.
