Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has admitted that it is now difficult for his side to win the Premier League title this season, following their 2-1 loss to Sunderland at the weekend.

The disappointing defeat against the Black Cats at Stamford Bridge, coupled with Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Norwich City yesterday, means that the Blues are now five points off top spot in the standings with just three games to go.

And Matic, who believes Chelsea were unlucky not to come out victorious against Sunderland, wants his side to turn their attention to the semi-finals of the Champions League, where they are up against current La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid.

"We tried, we fought until the end for the result, until the last minute, and we were unlucky not to win”, he told Chelsea TV.
