Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez believes that the German champions need to watch out for Real Madrid’s counter-attacking threats in the semi-final of the Champions League.

Bayern Munich have travelled to the Spanish capital to take on Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Santiago Bernabeu tonight.

Martinez believes that it is very important for the Bavarians to close down the spaces and stop Los Blancos from launching fast counter-attacks.

"We must control Madrid's counterattacks; they're very fast on the break. They have some very quick players who can get forward at pace and score – that's what we need to watch out for”, the 25-year-old told UEFA’s official site.
