Liverpool legend Ian Rush believes his old club will still end the season as Premier League champions if they can win their remaining two games.

The Reds slipped to a damaging 2-0 home defeat against Chelsea yesterday which, combined with Manchester City winning 2-0 at Crystal Palace, has put the title in the Citizens' hands.

Manchester City have three games to play, while Liverpool have just two. Should each team win all their remaining games, they will both finish with 86 points, but the Citizens have a superior goal difference, eight more than Liverpool, which it looks unlikely the Reds can reel in.

But Rush feels if Liverpool can beat Crystal Palace and Newcastle they will win the league, as he expects Manchester City to slip up.

"I think if Liverpool win their next two league games they will win the league", he explained to BBC Radio 5 live.

"If they beat Crystal Palace away it all adds up to the final game of the season which could be unbelievable", Rush added.

Manchester City are next in action on Saturday away at Everton, while Liverpool travel to Crystal Palace.
