Arsenal are in a market to buy a solid goalkeeper this summer and they have turned their eyes towards Lazio’s Federico Marchetti, according to Italian daily Il Tempo.

In 2011, after Uruguay international Fernando Muslera left, Lazio activated Marchetti's €5.2m release clause to bring the goalkeeper to the Stadio Olimpico from Cagliari.

With Arsenal’s second-choice goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski’s contract set to expire this summer, and the Pole set to depart, and Emiliano Viviano’s loan deal from Palermo set to expire at the end of the season, Arsenal are actively searching for a goalkeeper to add to their ranks.

The Gunners are looking for a goalkeeper who will provide tough competition for Wojciech Szczesny next season, therefore they are looking to bring the Italian to the Emirates Stadium.
