Dimitar Berbatov's agent is heading to Monaco for talks with the Ligue 1 club over his client remaining at the Stade Louis II into next season.

The Bulgarian striker is currently on loan at Monaco from Premier League side Fulham, however his contract with the Cottagers expires in the summer and he is not expected to return to Craven Cottage.

Berbatov has made a positive impact at Monaco and is keen to stay put, a desire it appears the principality club share.

"Everything is going well with the Monaco hierarchy", Emil Dantchev told Sport24.

Monaco are thought to want Berbatov to sign a one-year contract with an option for a further year, while the former Manchester United man wants a straight two-year deal.
