Tottenham Hotspur coach Les Ferdinand has revealed that Kyle Walker is hopeful about featuring in his side’s last game of the season against Aston Villa on 11th May.

The right-back has been out of action since picking up a pelvic injury against Benfica in the Europa League in mid-March.

England manager Roy Hodgson earlier expressed his concerns about Walker, who is expected to fight for a place in the Three Lions’ starting line-up with Liverpool’s Glen Johnson.

However, Ferdinand explained that the defender is responding well to treatment and is separately training with the physios to increase his fitness level.

But the coach was quick to add that Spurs’ Premier League game against West Ham United tomorrow will come too soon for him.

"He's had two or three injections and responded quite well. He's not going to make the West Ham game, but hopefully he might be available for the last game of the season”, he told ITV.

"He's training with the physios at the moment, doing some straight line running, and he's just trying to get himself back up to speed.

"He's been able to do straight line running to keep his fitness levels up, obviously he's not match fit, but it's just a case of match fitness that he needs now."

Walker has made 34 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham this season, scoring once.
