Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has insisted the ball is in Liverpool's court over a permanent deal for winger Oussama Assaidi.

The Moroccan has spent this season on loan at Stoke from Liverpool and Hughes is extremely happy with the contribution the former Heerenveen man has made.

Stoke are looking to sign Assaidi on a permanent basis, but Hughes is clear that any deal is dependent upon Liverpool's valuation of the winger.

"It's important that we accept that he's not our player, he's Liverpool's player, but he's done really well for us and we're very pleased with what he's produced", Hughes was quoted as saying by ITV.

"There is a hope we might be able to bring him in and a lot of that is down to the player himself.

"You need the right players around you to maximise your ability and I think he's found that at Stoke City, so we're hopeful.

"But it's out of our hands to a certain extent because it depends what Liverpool value him at."

Assaidi joined Liverpool from Dutch outfit Heerenveen in 2012, but found securing a regular starting spot at Anfield to be a tough task.
