Arsenal appear to have already suffered a transfer blow after it emerged that transfer target Josip Drmic is poised to join Bayer Leverkusen, having undergone a medical with the BayArena club.

Drmic joined Bundesliga outfit 1.FC Nurnberg last summer from Swiss outfit FC Zurich and signed a four-year-contract with the club.

Arsenal have long coveted the Swiss international and it was claimed that a deal to sign Drmic was all but done a few months ago, with former Germany captain Lothar Matthaus insisting the Gunners would be the striker's destination.

And Arsene Wenger may well be disappointed at multiple reports from Germany that the 21-year-old has decided to join Leverkusen this summer.
