Barcelona's out-of-favour midfielder Ibrahim Afellay is being monitored by number of clubs, including Italian outfit Lazio.

The former PSV Eindhoven player, who joined the Spanish side in 2011, has played just one league game for the Catalan giants this season.

A proposed move could therefore well be on the cards if a proper amount is quoted to his proposed suitors.

According to Italian daily La Stampa, Lazio have shown a lot of interest in securing a permanent deal for the Dutch international.

A number of other clubs including Premier League outfit Newcastle United and Spanish side Malaga are also rumoured to be interested in the player.

Afellay's season has been marred by lengthy injury layoffs forcing him to miss most of Barcelona's matches this season.

His abilities however have not gone unnoticed with the midfielder having scored 35 goals in 159 appearances for PSV between 2004 and 2011.

Afellay also has 44 international appearances against his name, scoring five goals for Holland.
