Former Liverpool striker Djibil Cisse has congratulated his eight-year-old son Cassius on signing his first contract in football, with English League One outfit Crewe Alexandra.

Cisse has picked the Railwaymen as the best first stop for his son as he launches his budding career, the English side having a prestigious youth academy.




Cisse wrote on his Twitter account: "First contract. I'm proud of you my son."

The 32-year-old striker has turned out for a number of clubs in his career, but is most notable for his spell at Liverpool between 2004 and 2007, a stint which included a loan spell at Marseille.

Cisse won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005.
