Cellino has been in talks to sell the Serie A outfit and an American consortium are keen to take the reins from the Italian businessman, with plans afoot to build a new stadium for the club by 2017.

However, according to Corriere dello Sport, Cellino is not sold on handing over full control of Cagliari to the American group and is instead leaning towards keeping control of up to half the club and guiding the new co-owners into the world of Italian football.
