Young Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Amos feels that David de Gea is the only player at Old Trafford to have enjoyed a strong season.

De Gea collected the Players' Player of the Year and Fans' Player of the Year awards at the club's end-of-season ceremony and Amos believes the accolades were thoroughly deserved.

Indeed, for the 24-year-old, his goalkeeping contemporary was head and shoulders above his team-mates.

Amos told MUTV: "He got my vote because he thoroughly deserved it and was so consistent, which is obviously what you want from a keeper.

"It wasn't a great season for the club but he was the one player who kept his performances at a good level.

"In terms of everyone I have spoken to at the club, everyone is in agreement. His consistency set him apart and it is hard to think of a bad game that he had", the goalkeeper concluded.

Some of the credit for De Gea's fine form for the Red Devils has been handed to goalkeeping coach Chris Woods. However, with the former England international having been released from his duties, De Gea will work under a new goalkeeping mentor next term.
