Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino feels that the fans of his other club, Cagliari, want him to sell the side to a group of American investors.

Cellino has been locked in talks to sell Cagliari for months after deciding he cannot split his time between the Serie A outfit and Leeds, where he has acquired 75 per cent and vowed to lead the club to promotion to the Premier League within two years.

There are two contenders for Cagliari, a group of American investors and former Inter board member Tommaso Giulini.

Cellino met Giulini in England last week and has been leaning towards accepting his offer after not being convinced by the American group. However, he is now in the United States and is due to meet with the Americans.

And fan pressure may play a part.

"The Sardinians want the Americans", Cellino told Sky Italia.

Now he will meet the Americans tomorrow evening, even though he is well aware the takeover saga is dragging on.

"Because of this, I have to please them [the fans], even if I extend the agony.

"I hope to meet them soon."
