French champions Paris Saint-Germain are ready to rival Liverpool for the signature of Sporting Lisbon’s Marcos Rojo.

The central defender’s performances for Sporting this season have attracted interest from clubs across Europe, with the Argentine helping the Portuguese side qualify for the Champions League.

PSG are set to lose Marquinhos this summer and have identified the Argentine as an ideal replacement for the Brazilian, according to Portuguese daily O Jogo.

The Parisians are on the verge of signing David Luiz from Chelsea and are looking to add one more central defender to strengthen the depth of their squad.

Liverpool’s scouts have long tracked the 24-year-old, but with the arrival of PSG in the market, the Reds might need to move quickly to secure a deal.

Barcelona were also believed to be interested in the Sporting defender, however they have turned their eyes towards securing a deal for Marquinhos from PSG.

Rojo made his international debut for Argentina in February 2011 against Portugal and has so far earned 20 international caps for his country.
