Despite suggestions earlier today that Montpellier have accepted an offer of €8m for midfielder Remy Cabella from Newcastle, the club's vice-president Laurent Nicollin has denied a deal is done.

Cabella is looking to leave the Stade de la Mosson for pastures new this summer and Newcastle are at the front of the queue to offer the France international a fresh challenge.

The Magpies have submitted a bid of €8m for Cabella, however the sum has been deemed insufficient by the 2012 Ligue 1 champions.

"Over the last ten days or so, we have received two or three offers, one of which at €8m, was something that we did not expect", Laurent Nicollin, son of president Louis Nicollin, told L'Equipe.

"The president is talking about €15m."

Cabella is thought to be wanted by a number of clubs, meaning Newcastle look likely to have to raise their offer for the 24-year-old to win the race for his signature.

It also remains to be seen whether Cabella sees his future at St. James' Park.
