Louis van Gaal has handed a transfer wish list to Manchester United with four names on.

The current Holland national team coach is taking charge at Manchester United after the World Cup on a three-year contract and has been offered substantial backing in the transfer market from the club.

Van Gaal is already well-advanced with his transfer planning and has given Manchester United a list of four names he would like to be waiting for him at Old Trafford.

According to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, these are Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman and Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka.

Signing all four would likely cost Manchester United at least £100m, but it is far from clear Van Gaal will be able to land his targets.

Dortmund and Bayern Munich are unlikely to make buying Hummels and Schweinsteiger an easy task, while Roma will want top dollar for Strootman less than a year after signing him from PSV Eindhoven.

The Red Devils should at least be able to snap up Konoplyanka, with Dnipro open to a deal, but the winger has also interested Liverpool, who he nearly joined in January.
