West Ham are interested in offering a home to Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu for next season.

The Spanish star spent this term on loan in his homeland with Valencia, but is expected to head back to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Romeu struggled to clock up consistent game time with Los Che and turned out for the side only 13 times in La Liga, earning a total of 18 appearances in all competitions.

The former Barcelona midfielder will be keen to play first team football next season and West Ham may offer him the opportunity to do so in the Premier League.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has been told to produce a side that play more attractive football next season and cultured midfielder Romeu could prove a further step on that journey.

Allardyce has already signed Argentine forward Mauro Zarate, while former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Teddy Sheringham has joined as an attacking coach.
