Barcelona have brought forward plans to sell Alex Song this summer, informing the player's agent that he can look for offers for his client.

The Catalan giants have been moving towards a sale of Song and the contract renewal of Javier Mascherano has pushed them over the edge.

Now, according to El Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are actively looking for clubs to sell Song to and have instructed the player's agent to find a new side for his client.

Barcelona are hoping to offload Song as quickly as possible, something which will also raise funds for new coach Luis Enrique to splash in the transfer market.

Song joined Barcelona from Arsenal in the summer of 2012, quitting the Gunners despite being a popular figure with boss Arsene Wenger.

He pondered moving on last summer due to a lack of playing time at the Camp Nou, but was persuaded, by Wenger amongst others, to remain and fight for his place.

However, despite seeing several of his performances meet with praise when he did play, Song is being pushed out of the door.

The midfielder, whose contract at Barcelona runs until 2017, made just 19 appearances in La Liga this season.
