Ronald Koeman may be able to quickly get over the disappointment of slipping down the pecking order for the Southampton job, as Turkish giants Galatasaray hone in on him.

The former Barcelona defender ended his association with Feyenoord this summer after leading the Rotterdam club to second spot in the Eredivisie table.

He was interviewed for the Southampton job recently, but the Saints prefer Hull City boss Steve Bruce and Koeman's chances of being appointed at St. Mary's look slim.

However, according to Turkish outlet 3 Puan, Galatasaray are now keen to speak to Koeman about taking charge at the Turk Telekom Arena.

Galatasaray are searching for a new coach after parting company with Roberto Mancini yesterday. The former Manchester City manager is thought to have been unhappy at the budget he would be handed for next term.

Koeman still has competition for the Galatasaray role though.

Also in the club's sights is Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu, who has experience of coaching in Turkey due to spells with Besiktas and Galatasaray themselves in the early 2000s.
