Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta will check on the form and fitness of Switzerland star Xherdan Shaqiri today ahead of a potential move for the Bayern Munich winger.

Shaqiri, who has been strongly linked with Premier League runners-up Liverpool, is unsettled at Bayern Munich after a season during which he was consistently overlooked for the biggest games; he will though taste the World Cup today, for Switzerland against Ecuador.

The winger has given notice he is not prepared to suffer the same fate again, while insisting former Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes had more faith in him than incumbent Pep Guardiola.

Now, according to Italian daily Tuttosport, Juventus are showing serious interest in the Switzerland winger and will monitor him closely at the World Cup.

There has already been contact between the Italian champions and Shaqiri's camp, with the reaction positive from the player.

Indeed, Shaqiri is thought to be willing to move to Juventus if a deal can be arranged with Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians will hope for other clubs, including Liverpool, to firm up their interest, in order to obtain the maximum price from the winger's sale.
