Luiz Gustavo is being tracked by Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

The Brazilian defensive midfielder currently turns out in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg and was the subject of fierce interest from Arsenal when he was sold by Bayern Munich last summer.

Wolfsburg pulled out all the stops to win the race for Gustavo and handed him a lucrative contract but, having missed out on qualifying for next season's Champions League, could find themselves vulnerable.

And given any hint that the Brazilian is ready to quit the Volkswagen Arena, three Premier League clubs stand ready to try their luck.

Arsenal, who missed out on the ex-Hoffenheim player last year, are watching proceedings closely, while Chelsea are also taking an interest in Gustavo's future.

Meanwhile Manchester United, now managed by former Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal, are also determined to be in the mix.

Van Gaal signed Gustavo for Bayern Munich in January 2011, before parting company with the club later that year.

The 26-year-old is currently at the World Cup as part of Brazil's squad.
