Fiorentina are the latest club to join the race to sign the veteran Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o.

Eto’o joined Chelsea last summer on a free transfer, but his contract is set to expire at the end of this month and there are no indications that either the player or the club want to extend his stay in west London.

The 33-year-old, with his experience of playing for some of the top European clubs, is still a sought-after striker in the market.

Fiorentina are the latest club to join the race for the Cameroonian and have offered a one-year deal worth €2m for his services, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

However, negotiations are proving to be difficult as Eto’o wants a two-year deal and more in terms of wages per year.

Eto’o made 35 appearances for Chelsea last season, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists.
