Juventus are hoping that Patrice Evra will put pressure on Manchester United to allow him to move to the Bianconeri this summer.

Evra has been a long-time target for Juventus, but the Italian champions' hopes of snapping him up were dealt a blow in May when he extended his contract at Old Trafford for a further year.

However, according to Sky Italia, the France international has an agreement in principal with Juventus over a two-year contract at €3.5m per year.

Manchester United do not want to part with the veteran defender though, despite having just signed another left-back in the form of Luke Shaw, from Southampton.

Now Juventus are hoping that Evra will persuade Manchester United to allow him to head to Turin this summer.

The defender is currently at the World Cup as part of Didier Deschamps' France squad and developments are not expected until after Les Bleus' participation in the tournament ends.

Evra joined Manchester United in 2006 and is due to work under his third permanent Red Devils boss next term, when Louis van Gaal takes over.
