Bayern Munich have officially taken their offer of a new contract for Toni Kroos off the table, in a clear sign he is edging towards being sold.

Kroos is a long-time target of Manchester United, but it is Real Madrid who are making the running towards securing his signature and the Spanish side are firm favourites to grab the Germany midfielder before the new campaign kicks off.

According to German daily Bild, Bayern Munich have now officially withdrawn their offer of a contract extension to Kroos.

Real Madrid are thought to be willing to pay Kroos €12m per season, an amount the Bavarians are unwilling to match.

However, there is not yet believed to be an agreement between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid over a transfer fee.

The German champions are thought to want a minimum of €30m to sell the midfielder, while Real Madrid will not go above €25m.

Kroos could still choose to sit out the remaining year of his contract and leave for free in 2015.
