New Leeds United signing Marco Silvestri has revealed that the presence of Massimo Cellino and Nicola Salerno at Elland Road was crucial to him deciding to join the English club.

Leeds have beaten off competition to secure the highly-rated shot-stopper from Chievo Verona, with Silvestri penning a four-year deal with the Championship side.

Cellino, who completed his takeover of Leeds earlier this year, and Salerno, who served Cellino as sporting director at Cagliari and now works alongside him at Elland Road, pushed hard for Silvestri.

And with the goalkeeper having spent time under the pair at Cagliari, their presence was the clincher.

"English football has always fascinated me a lot", Silvestri admitted to Tutto Mercato.
