Inter Milan will start with a three-man defence initially, to allow new signing Nemanja Vidic some time to settle, manager Walter Mazzarri has revealed.

The former Manchester United defender moved to the San Siro on a free transfer this summer, after his contract with the Red Devils ended.

And as the excitement around the player's first appearance for his new club reaches its height, Mazzarri is concerned about how well he will be able to adapt to his new role in a different country.

He is therefore in favour of giving the 32-year-old some time to settle with the new squad and will look to alter the team's formation to allow Vidic an easier ride.

"Initially we'll start off with a three-man defence so that Nemanja can get used to it, as he's never played in such a system before", Mazzarri told his club's official site.

"Then once I have the full squad to work with we'll focus on four at the back."

The presence of Vidic will provide the Nerazzurri with much needed experience at the back, as they prepare for a busy season both domestically as well as in the Europa League.
