Crystal Palace have confirmed that Marouane Chamakh has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

The striker has put pen-to-paper on the new contract, which will keep him at Selhurst Park until 2016.

Chamakh, who joined Crystal Palace from Arsenal last summer, scored six goals in 34 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles in the 2013/14 campaign and helped the club to finish 11th in the Premier League.

And the Morocco international insisted that his first choice was always to prolong his stay at Crystal Palace, where he received regular game time.

“My first choice would be to continue my adventure with Crystal Palace. My priority is to stay here”, he told the club’s official site.

“The adventure here is not over. We’ve had a good season and built something really, really strong. I hope that will continue.

“I’ve played more football this year and that’s why I came here. It was a challenge to play regularly, to enjoy my football and have fun again.

“I lost that before, so it was really important for me to find that emotion again. I needed that, I wanted that and I am so happy.”

Chamakh, whose previous contract with Crystal Palace expired this summer, will now fly to Austria to link up with his team-mates for pre-season training.

Tony Pulis’ side will begin their pre-season campaign with a friendly against GAK Graz on Wednesday.
