Former Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder Boudewijn Zenden has advised Memphis Depay to stay put at PSV Eindhoven, despite interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Depay enjoyed a positive season at PSV last term and has already boosted his growing reputation this summer, catching the eye during the Netherlands' run to the semi-finals of the World Cup.

PSV are keen to keep hold of the young winger, but accept that bids may well arrive this summer. And Depay's attitude and wishes will be crucial.

Zenden, who worked with PSV's youth team last season, believes that the young Dutch international would be making a mistake if he quit the Philips Stadion this summer.

Zenden told Omroep Brabant: "I think Depay should stay in Eindhoven for two years.

"He needs to grow with PSV and then have a nice transfer after the European Championship in 2016.

"That would be best for his development."

Zenden left Dutch football in his early 20s, swapping PSV for Barcelona in 1998.
