Manchester City are closing in on the signature of FC Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala.

The Citizens had tried to grab the France international in the January transfer window, but were unwilling to meet Porto's asking price for the player.

Now, according to the BBC, the Premier League champions are in advanced talks over acquiring Mangala for a fee of around £32m.

Manchester City are hopeful of pushing the deal over the line and adding Managla to their squad.

The centre-back travelled to Brazil as part of Didier Deschamps' France squad, but failed to feature in any of Les Bleus' matches.
