Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta has sought to put out the transfer flames lapping at Arturo Vidal, who has been strongly linked with Manchester United.

The Red Devils are thought to be preparing a bid for the Chile midfielder which could reach as high as €50m, as they seek to present him to Louis van Gaal for the new campaign.

Vidal himself has promised to assess the situation upon his return for holiday, having been granted an extended break following his participation in the World Cup with Chile.

But Marotta, who has been presenting the club's new manager Massimiliano Allegri at a press conference today, has denied Vidal could leave Turin.

"Vidal is a Juventus player", Marotta explained when asked about the midfielder's future.

"We have never put the player up for sale, though we have had enquiries from important clubs.

"He is one of the main players in this team and we want to keep him."

However, Marotta did leave the door open for Vidal to influence whether he stays or goes, while claiming the Chile international is happy playing for the Italian champions at present.

"In my experience, it is the player who decides his future.

"Just yesterday Vidal expressed his happiness to continue his adventure with Juventus and we want to keep him."
