Newcastle United have completed the capture of Netherlands international right-back Daryl Janmaat.

The 24-year-old has been signed to replace Mathieu Debuchy, who Newcastle sold to Arsenal earlier today.

Janmaat, who starred for Louis van Gaal's Netherlands squad at the World Cup, has arrived at St. James' Park from Dutch giants Feyenoord.

Boss Alan Pardew has been quick to salute Janmaat's signing, dubbing the right-back as "good defensively", but with a fierce attacking streak.

Pardew told his club's site: "Daryl had an excellent World Cup and we're looking forward to him continuing that form for Newcastle.

"He is the perfect example of a modern full-back.

"He is someone who is good defensively but offers a real threat going forward as well."

Janmaat, who turned out 30 times for Feyenoord in the Eredivisie last season and helped the Rotterdam club to a second place finish, is pleased to be at Newcastle and believes the Magpies are a perfect fit.

"This is the perfect club for me and I am looking forward to being with the team and getting started here", he said.
