Former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka could relaunch his career in Belgium with Standard Liege.

Anelka has been a free agent since terminating his contract with West Brom, following the fallout over a five-match ban and £80,000 fine handed to the Frenchman by the English Football Association for a gesture alleged to be anti-semitic.

Now 35 years old, Anelka is looking to play on and is attracting interest from Standard Liege.

According to Belgian daily Sudpresse, the former Chelsea striker is open to the idea of joining the club and is set to hold talks with Standard Liege's representatives in the near future.

Anelka has never played his football in Belgium, his career taking in spells in his native France, England, Spain, Turkey, China and Italy.
