Manchester United legend Bryan Robson believes the Red Devils should have splashed the cash on Netherlands defender Bruno Martins Indi this summer.

Martins Indi worked under current Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal at the World Cup in Brazil, however the 62-year-old opted not to make a bid for the 22-year-old, who has now joined FC Porto from Feyenoord.

Robson, who feels Manchester United need to strengthen their backline, feels Martins Indi would have been the perfect recruit.

"He really impressed me in Brazil, especially against Argentina when they were up against it", Robson was quoted as saying by ITV.

"He had a really good tournament.
