Louis van Gaal is ready to make Ajax left-back Daley Blind his first signing as Manchester United manager.

Van Gaal coached Blind at the recent World Cup in Brazil, trusting in the Ajax man as a crucial part of his Netherlands line-up.

Now the 62-year-old wants to continue the relationship at Old Trafford and, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, is preparing an offer of €22m to capture Blind.

The defender, who can also operate in midfield, has also been linked with Catalan giants Barcelona.

Indeed, Blind was forced to defuse mounting links with the Camp Nou club over the weekend when he was spotted in Barcelona; Blind explained he is in the city on holiday.
