Steven Gerrard has retired from international football with England, standing down as the country's skipper – but the Liverpool man is full of opinions about the future for the Three Lions.

The midfielder has insisted the future is bright for England, placing his faith in boss Roy Hodgson and assistant Gary Neville, and explaining he recognises he is more positive than the majority of fans.



Gerrard admits that he has been told England need an experienced head to help them head into the next era.

And though he admits he is flattered by the thought that could be him, he feels Wayne Rooney, Glen Johnson and company can rise to the occasion.
