Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is close to joining Swansea City, according to the BBC.

The 24-year-old, who flew back from Spurs’ pre-season training camp in Seattle, could undergo a medical with the Swans as early as today.

Sigurdsson is part of the deal which will see Swansea full-back Ben Davies move in the opposite direction.

The Iceland international, who spent the second half of the 2011/12 campaign on loan at the Liberty Stadium, joined Tottenham from Hoffenheim the following season.

He scored 13 goals in 83 appearances in all competitions for the White Hart Lane outfit and still has two years left on his contract with the north London club.

However, Sigurdsson fell down the pecking order at Tottenham and a return to his former stomping ground will help him in considerably increasing his game time.

In a separate deal, Tottenham are also closing their transfer net around Swansea City goalkeeper Michael Vorm.
