Sampdoria have contacted Southampton to enquire about the club's asking price for out-of-favour striker Pablo Osvaldo.

The Italy hitman spent the last half of last season back on loan in his adopted homeland with Juventus, but the Bianconeri opted against moving to keep him on a permanent basis.

However, despite a change of manager at Southampton, Osvaldo has found the door still shut at St. Mary's, not helped by the striker failing to report as scheduled for pre-season training.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman has admitted that the club are now looking to move Osvaldo on.

The 28-year-old has already attracted attention, with Sampdoria now the latest club to join the race.

According to Sky Italia, Sampdoria made contact with Southampton today to ask about Osvaldo and the asking price attached to the former Lecce man.

While the Saints' asking price is still far above that Sampdoria are willing to pay, there is hope of some movement and the Serie A outfit have not given up on signing Osvaldo.
