Andres Iniesta admits that captaining Barcelona would be the fulfillment of his lifelong dream.

Iniesta is in contention to become the next club captain after the retirement of Carles Puyol and departure of Victor Valdes.

"Moments like these make you feel both proud and happy”, the Spaniard told El Mundo Deportivo.

The 30-year-old is a product of Barcelona’s youth academy and he admits that captaining Barcelona was his childhood dream and its realisation would represent another step forward in his career.

The 30-year-old also added on a lighter note that captaincy also means that he is ageing.

"Although, on the flipside, it means you're getting older!"

Iniesta made his first team debut for Barcelona in 2002 and has made 500 appearances for the club.
