Liverpool shot-stopper Pepe Reina has expressed a desire to end his career in his homeland, but admits that at the moment he has little opportunity to return to Spain.

Reina spent last season on loan to Napoli after Liverpool bought Simon Mignolet and Brendan Rodgers indicated that the Belgian would be his first choice goalkeeper.

The Spaniard had a good time in Italy, where he reunited with his former manager Rafael Benitez, and also won a piece of silverware in the form of the Italian Cup.

However, the 31-year-old has expressed a desire to end his career in his homeland. He admits though that at the moment he doesn’t see too many options for him in Spain.

"It's normal, though, that over the years you want to return to where you came from", Reina was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"At the moment all the big Spanish teams are covered in my role, so I see it as very difficult to return to Spain", he added.

Reina started his career at Barcelona before moving to Villarreal in 2002. He eventually moved out of Spain to join Benitez at Liverpool in 2005.
