Former Manchester United full-back Denis Irwin has termed Patrice Evra as one of the best left-backs of the Premier League in the last decade.

Evra completed his switch from Manchester United to Juventus earlier this month on a two-year contract.

The Frenchman joined the likes of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, in ending their long-term association with the Red Devils this summer.

“I was sorry to see Patrice go, he’s had a great eight years with United and won so much silverware”, Irwin told the club’s official site.

The former Wolves man regards Evra as one of the best left-backs of the Premier League era along with former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole, who joined Roma this summer.

“He was a great character in the dressing room too and a fantastic player on the field.

“Without doubt, he and Ashley Cole have been the best full-backs in the Premier League, if not in the world, for the last eight to ten years.”

Evra joined the Red Devils in January 2006 and made 379 appearances for the club. He won five Premier League titles, three League Cups, one Champions League and one FIFA Club World Cup in his time at the club.
