Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed he is entering the transfer market for another striker following the collapse of Loic Remy's move to the club over the weekend.

The Reds had activated a clause in Remy's contract at QPR and the striker spent close to a week in the United States, where Liverpool are on tour, waiting to seal a move to Anfield.

However, concerns about the striker's medical results led Liverpool to call off the deal, something Rodgers admits is unfortunate for all concerned.

"It's very simple. We've made a decision as a club not to go ahead with the deal", he told a press conference.

"It's unfortunate for the player. It's happened before and it's happened on this occasion.

"We're obviously disappointed for the player, but there's nothing more to be said really and we have to move on and look at other targets."

Rodgers was also asked whether the collapse of Remy's move means Liverpool will be back in the market and looking for another striker, to which he quickly replied: "You're absolutely right."

Liverpool did complete one signing over the weekend, bagging defender Dejan Lovren from Southampton.
